BCGEU – Langley

The BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) Langley office is a landmark project that reflects the organization’s commitment to its members, community, and workplace environment. As the first LEED Gold-certified building in the Township of Langley, this new construction project set a new standard for sustainable and thoughtful workplace design.

RED Design served as the prime consultant throughout the project, beginning with site selection and land acquisition and continuing through design, coordination, and construction. Working closely with the project team, we helped bring the vision for this facility from concept to completion.

The architecture balances contemporary design with natural materials, creating a workplace that feels both professional and welcoming. Expansive glazing, generous ceiling heights, and an open layout maximize natural light throughout the building, fostering a bright and engaging atmosphere. Warm wood finishes and earthy tones add a sense of comfort and connection, while bold accents and distinctive lighting features introduce visual interest and character.

Designed to support a variety of workplace functions, the facility includes flexible meeting and gathering spaces, collaborative work areas, and a dramatic atrium that enhances connectivity between departments. A conference room featuring sculptural lighting elements serves as a focal point, while the outdoor deck extends the workplace experience beyond the building envelope, providing space for meetings and social events overlooking the property’s landscaped water feature.

Throughout the project, carefully curated artwork and design details reinforce a strong connection to the local community and culture. The result is a highly functional, sustainable workplace that successfully combines modern architecture, employee wellbeing, and a strong sense of place.
